Professional title: Dean, School of Professional and Continuing Studies, University of Richmond
Dr. Jamelle Wilson serves as the fifth dean of the University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies. Prior to her appointment as dean, Jamelle served as Superintendent of Schools for Hanover County. Before being appointed as superintendent, she worked in Hanover County Public Schools as a classroom teacher, a lead teacher, an assistant principal, a principal and an assistant superintendent.
Jamelle brings to the School of Professional and Continuing Studies a focus on the stories and experiences of everyday working professionals and adult students earning degrees and certificates and working toward professional development and personal enrichment. She also brings her enthusiastic support for the Richmond area and a desire to see the University continue to serve the educational needs of the Richmond community.
Jamelle currently serves on the Virginia Board of Education, the Board of Governors for International Baccalaureate, the Memorial Regional Medical Center Community Advisory Board. Previously she served as chairman of the YMCA of Greater Richmond and on the board of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. Jamelle was one of eight honorees in the 2015 Strong Men and Women in Virginia History program sponsored by the Library of Virginia and Dominion Resources. In 2014 she received the YWCA of Greater Richmond’s Outstanding Women’s Award for Education. Jamelle is also a 2008 graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond.
