Manju Ganeriwala

Professional Title: Former Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Virginia

 

Manju Ganeriwala served as Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Virginia from January 2009 through June 2022.  She was first appointed as Treasurer by Governor Kaine in 2009 and then reappointed by each administration in succession, including Governor Younkin in 2022.  As Treasurer, she oversaw the investment of public funds; issuance of municipal bonds and management of state debt; provision of banking services and administration of the state’s risk management and unclaimed property programs. Ganeriwala also served as Chair of the Virginia Treasury Board and was a member of ten other state boards, including Virginia Housing, Virginia 529, and Virginia Small Business Financing Authority. Prior to her appointment as Treasurer, she served as Deputy Secretary of Finance in Governor Kaine’s Administration, Chief Financial Officer for the Virginia Medicaid and Associate Director for the Virginia Department of Planning and Budget.

 

Ganeriwala holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Bombay and a Master’s in Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She is the 2009 recipient of the YWCA’s Outstanding Women Award in Government and is a 2013 Toll Fellow. She currently is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation and serves on the boards of the Community Foundation of Richmond and Virginia Community Development Corporation.
