Dorothy & Larry Armstrong Community Service Scholarship

The Dorothy & Larry Armstrong Community Service Scholarship was established in 1995 by the Armstrong family, to honor a couple who dedicated much of their lives to making Chesterfield County a better place to live. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to support post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying graduates of Thomas Dale High School, Chesterfield County, Virginia. The recipient of the scholarship will be the student who has contributed the most to the community during their high school years.

Eligibility

An eligible student must be a senior attending Thomas Dale High School, 3626 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831

An eligible student must demonstrate outstanding commitment to community service. Academic work and participation in school activities will also be considered.

An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited 4-year college or university in the continental United States the following academic year. 

Selection Criteria

Commitment to, and involvement in, activities that serve the community evaluated based on personal statement.

Academic achievement evaluated based on grade point average and SAT scores.

Leadership in school activities and community service evaluated on the basis of the student's extracurricular involvement, academic standing, honors and awards.

Personal Statement Topic:Outline your community service activities during high school.
