Susan and Robert K. Becker Scholarship

The Susan and Robert K. Becker Scholarship Fund was established in 2021 to support post-secondary educational opportunities for qualifying graduates of Lancaster and Northumberland High Schools in Virginia. The Becker family wishes to support students who show academic promise but may not rank in the top of their graduating class.

Eligibility

An eligible student must be attending Lancaster High School in Lancaster County, Virginia or Northumberland High School in Heathsville, Virginia.

An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year community college, college, or university in the United States, the following academic year.

An eligible student must demonstrate a commitment to community service and academic achievement.

An eligible student must have an interest or desire to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), law or criminal justice related degrees.

Selection Criteria

Academic achievement will be evaluated based on grade point average and SAT/ACT scores.

Involvement in the community through extracurricular service activities.

Financial need will be evaluated based on the completed Student Financial Information Form, statement of financial need, and information regarding pending scholarship applications, if any.

Personal Statement Topic: Outline your future goals and interest or desire to pursue a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), law or criminal justice related degree.
