Volunteer Your Time

We believe everyone has something to give. Whether you choose to give your time, talent or financial resources, you are an important part of making Richmond a better place.

We help position people at the center of change by connecting you to volunteer opportunities in our community. There are many ways to get involved - as individuals or with families, friends and colleagues. We invite you to lend your voice and talent to making Richmond even stronger than it is today.

Search Volunteer Opportunities

The Community Foundation is proud to include our local HandsOn affiliate as part of our Civic Innovations team. Through our partner website, you can search and register for projects based on your time availability, personal interest and location.

Youth & Families

We encourage youth to volunteer independently and for families to volunteer together! We offer many opportunities for engagement, depending on the requirements of each project as determined by the nonprofit organization. In many cases, students may receive credit for their service and we are happy to provide verification.

DIY Volunteering

Do-it-yourself volunteerism allows families and groups to participate in fun, flexible and meaningful projects from the comfort of their own homes. We offer at least one DIY opportunity monthly. We provide supply lists and instructions, so that you can purchase and assemble what you need and drop of the completed project to our office.

Civic Engagement

There is more to civic engagement than traditional volunteer projects. We are working to create additional opportunities for every day residents to share their voices and perspectives about how they want to see the community change for the better. Our goal is to host periodic conversations and learning events to share ideas and take action together. We are also working across our organization and with community partners to provide training and placement for individuals who wish to serve on nonprofits boards. Stay tuned for more details!
