Volunteer Your Time
We believe everyone has something to give. Whether you choose to give your time, talent or financial resources, you are an important part of making Richmond a better place.
We help position people at the center of change by connecting you to volunteer opportunities in our community. There are many ways to get involved - as individuals or with families, friends and colleagues. We invite you to lend your voice and talent to making Richmond even stronger than it is today.
Search Volunteer Opportunities
HandsOn Greater Richmond, affiliated with the Points of Light Network, is a service offering of the Community Foundation. Through our partner website, you can search and register for projects based on your time availability, personal interest and location.
Youth & Families
We encourage youth to volunteer independently and for families to volunteer together! We offer many opportunities for engagement, depending on the requirements of each project as determined by the nonprofit organization. In many cases, students may receive credit for their service and we are happy to provide verification.
Learn more about youth volunteering
Do-it-yourself volunteerism allows families and groups to participate in fun, flexible and meaningful projects from the comfort of their own homes. We offer at least one DIY opportunity monthly. We provide supply lists and instructions, so that you can purchase and assemble what you need and drop of the completed project to our office.

Take Civic Action
There is more to civic engagement than traditional volunteer projects. If you wish to expand your involvement by using your voice, purchase power, social networks and more, we invite you to take advantage of our events, trainings and resources. These offerings are designed to help you learn about local issues, use your voice, share ideas, and connect with other civic-minded leaders. Our workshops can be more reflective, helping you to craft a personal plan of action that aligns with your values, interests and skills.
