New fund will support public schools and local governments

A long-standing partnership between the organization has led to a new Center for Civic Innovations.

RVA Solar Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation recently committed $100,000 to support a new Sustainability Associate position for RPS, as well as the purchase and installation of energy monitoring systems.

In celebration of the Foundation's 50th Anniversary, $1 million was given to Maggie Walker Community Land Trust

“Skills-based volunteering isn’t new, but it can be difficult to coordinate, so Skills Connect makes it easier for volunteers to connect with the organizations they’re interested in — and easier for nonprofits to find volunteers who are qualified for specialized projects,” said Alan Delbridge, Nonprofit Program Manager with the Community Foundation.

Despite making up only about 6% of Richmond’s population, the Latino community experienced the highest number of positive COVID-19 cases, which hovered around 35% for months. While we’ve seen some improvement, disparities still exist throughout the region.

These recipients of the Giving Black RVA Legacy & Ingenuity Awards are recognized for their instrumental efforts in strengthening grantmaking institutions and advancing philanthropy as a means of social change, especially for Black communities.
