Together, we do more good

Impact 100 grantee Peter Paul Development Center

We are proud to be a place where people can come together to create positive change for our community. As your community foundation, we connect and support our partners and champion efforts that will make Richmond stronger.

We lean in to the people and organizations who know our community best, listening to their needs and stories to understand what is truly needed. We study trends and measure progress, but also understand that some of the best lessons come from approaches that were tried and failed, rather than those that were quick wins.

We aim to do better every day for our community and for our partners. After 50 years of guiding philanthropy in our region, we are more clear than ever that we can do more together than we can do alone. Thank you to these changemakers who make our work possible.

Donors and Volunteers

Last year, the Community Foundation received over $100 million in gifts and made more than 15,000 local volunteer connections. We work with individuals (and their professional advisors) to identify their passions and make the most of their giving experiences.

Affiliated Foundations

Our ability to do good is further leveraged by several foundations that have chosen to grow their own charitable legacies in partnership with us. We provide support to three affiliate community foundations serving the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, as well as six former private foundations that complement our community priorities here in the Richmond region.

Nonprofit Organizations

To address our community's challenges effectively, we must have a strong nonprofit sector at the forefront. We work alongside community organizations to understand the issues and address existing needs and opportunities in our region. We do this through funding, education and training, volunteer connections and online resources.

Community Stakeholders

To launch big ideas for our future, we must unite around a common vision. We regularly meet with our foundation peers to share new ideas and innovations, and we align resources whenever possible to amplify our impact. We are thought partners with the business and public sectors, as we shape initiatives that will help individuals and families thrive. And we welcome the perspectives and involvement of everyday people who live and work here to ensure they have a place at the table.
