The Community Foundation offers special grant programs that recognize local educators for their leadership skills and demonstrated ability to make a difference in the lives of others.

For over 30 years, we have partnered with the R.E.B. Foundation to emphasize the importance of public education by recognizing those who teach and inspire students. Both programs listed below follow a competitive process, in which eligible candidates will be selected from a larger pool based on written nominations and their participation in a panel interview.

R.E.B. Awards for Teaching Excellence – Established in 1988, this program is designed to strengthen the quality of public education by focusing on the teacher.

R.E.B. Awards for Distinguished Educational Leadership – This program recognizes local public school principals who go beyond the day-to-day demands of their position to create an exceptional educational environment.

We award more than $400,000 in scholarships annually to local students pursuing higher education.

The Community Foundation is proud to administer over 65 scholarship programs for students living in the Richmond region. Each scholarship was established by an individual, family or organization with a desire to assist high school students and adult learners continue their education. Each scholarship has specific requirements that must be met to be considered.
